Tibial
Plateau Leveling Osteotomy
TPLO

Sorry, this page is still under
conconstruction.
TPLO surgery can be complicated,
and I am still awaiting pictures and radiographs from my veterinarian.
This page will be up as soon as
the information comes in.
Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy
is a patented surgery that helps bring dogs back to full athletic
ability without residual problems often experienced after suturing an
ACL. In this surgery, doctors open up the inside of a knee and
cut the dog's tibia in a arc from the front of the tibia to the
back. They then rotate the tibia to make it more parallel to the
ground. They then screw stainless steel stints into the bones and
close the leg up. Recovery is long and arduous, but it is worth
the price.
Here is a site that shows great pictures. Since
it is a patented surgery, all photographs are also copyrighted.
Warning, the pictures are graphic.
